Dog walking
Our shelter dogs love a good walk too — meeting new people and getting some cuddles. Drop by and take one of them out. You'll find more details below.

LET'S GO OUT!
On Saturday 27 June 2026, public dog walking will not be possible for operational reasons.
Walks take place at the shelter address: Lhotky 60, Malotice.
We welcome anyone who'd like to give a little of their time to the shelter dogs.
Contact between a dog and a person is wonderful for both sides! For a dog that hasn't been lucky with owners, this kind of contact is especially important. Not only does the dog get physical exercise and new stimuli, but a walk (perhaps full of play) helps build the dog's trust in people. A dog, just like a person, is a social creature, and the presence of someone who gives a particular dog their attention helps make their shelter stay more pleasant, reduces unwanted behavior caused by boredom, increases socialization and lowers the dog's stress. So with a single walk you'll bring a homeless dog enormous joy! And there are beautiful forest walks around our shelter.

Anyone can walk our dogs — you don't have to be one of our regular volunteers.
If you're under 15, you need to come accompanied by someone over 18.
If you're 15–18, you can come to walk on your own, but we need a signed parental consent.
If you're over 18, then… there's nothing to sort out.
After several years of experience, we think it's better to leave your own dog at home. We rarely have a dog at the shelter that we can confidently lend out alongside another dog. Our dogs usually don't get along with other dogs, so a walk without another dog is far less stressful for everyone.
Yes, you do need to make an online reservation for a walk. It only takes a moment and gives you the certainty that one of our dogs will be waiting for you. We never reserve a specific dog, though — that's beyond us. You always reserve a time slot during which you can take one of our dogs out. It's up to you whether you arrive right at the start of the slot, giving yourself a full 2 hours, or just half an hour before it ends. The important thing is that the dog is back in its kennel for feeding by the end of the slot. Reservations are free and anyone can make one, with no age limit, but the rules above apply to walking. If anything changes (the dog gets sick, finds a home…) the booking app will email you right away, or notify you directly via the app. Reservations can be made only one week in advance. A reservation can be cancelled at the latest 1.5 hours before the walk starts, so another person can sign up if needed.
PLEASE NOTE
Bear in mind that the shelter often has dogs with an unclear past, bad experiences, or dogs with no upbringing at all.
If you're planning to come walking with children, we strongly recommend checking with us first whether we have a dog suitable for a walk with children.
Only 1 dog is lent out per walk, because dogs usually don't get along with each other.
