Nico
A small, unsure little dog.
Nico is a five-year-old crossbreed weighing 14 kg. He was surrendered by an owner who had adopted him from another shelter as a one-year-old.
Nico isn't the kind of dog who rushes joyfully up to everyone. He's wary of strangers at first and needs time to get used to you — finding his way to his person at his own pace. There are people he simply won't accept, and we haven't yet cracked the logic behind his choices. He'll most likely be a one-person dog.
With people he knows he's affectionate, cuddly and loves a good scratch. He can work nicely with a person, but he has to be in the mood — some days he simply can't be bothered. Motivating him can be tricky, as he's not very food-driven.
He's house-trained and walks well on a lead (he loves his walks). He knows 'sit', 'down' and 'come', and responds to his name. He doesn't like big dogs; small ones he mostly ignores. Handling him is more complicated — ideally don't ask too much of him and give him his own quiet spot that nobody interferes with. When he doesn't like something, he can snap.
He definitely needs a calm, small household (ideally without children).
